Ready to Go Live #

After finishing testing your app properly on a development site and following our quality guidelines, you are ready to deploy your app. Deploying your app will allow you to push it for production in JoonWeb. JoonWeb CLI lets you use your local environment to run your app during development. However, to make your code available to actual merchants, you must move your code from your local development environment to a production hosting service, and push your configurations and extensions to JoonWeb.

Deployment Architecture: What Goes Where? #

When deploying a JoonWeb app, your codebase is split between two destinations: 1. **Your Cloud/Hosting Service:** Your backend application code (Node.js, PHP, React frontend) must be uploaded to your preferred hosting provider (e.g., Vercel, AWS, Heroku, DigitalOcean). 2. **JoonWeb:** Your app configuration (`joonweb.app.json`) and any App Extensions (`extensions/` folder) are pushed directly to JoonWeb. > **Important:** Do *not* upload your `extensions/` folder or your `joonweb.app.json` file to your hosting service. These are strictly managed by the JoonWeb CLI.

Step 1: Upload to your Hosting Service #

The first step is to get your web app running on the internet. 1. Prepare your application for production (e.g., building assets, setting up production databases). 2. Deploy your application code (excluding extensions) to your hosting provider. 3. Note down the **production URL** assigned to your application (e.g., `https://my-joonweb-app.vercel.app`).

Step 2: Configure Production URLs #

Before pushing to JoonWeb, you must tell JoonWeb where your app is hosted. Open your local `joonweb.app.json` file and update the URLs to point to your new hosting service: - **`app_url`**: The base URL of your hosted app (e.g., `https://mytestapp.joonweb.app`). - **`redirect_uri`**: Your OAuth callback URLs (e.g., `https://mytestapp.joonweb.app/auth/callback`). Ensure that you remove any `localhost` or tunneling (ngrok/Cloudflare) URLs from these fields.

Step 3: CLI Deployment #

With your backend hosted and your `joonweb.app.json` updated, you are ready to push your configuration and extensions to JoonWeb. Run the following command in your terminal: ```bash joonweb app deploy ``` This command will: - Update your app's URLs in the Partner Dashboard. - Build and push your UI extensions to JoonWeb. - Create a new version of your app. [Learn more about the JoonWeb CLI](/apps/dev-tools)
